THANK YOU LORD!!!

It’s been one of those weeks. Started feeling a little throat irritation Tuesday night. Not too bothersome Wednesday, but by the time Thursday morning came, and time for my trip to the VA for a pulmonary function test, my throat was inflamed, which made me think it was my lungs, so I began thinking it could be pneumonia. Not wanting to fudge the pft, I instead went to see my primary care physician. Turned out they’re pretty sure I have thrush, a type of yeast infection in my mouth. Good thing I went when I did, because I was feeling pretty lousy yesterday. They gave me amoxicillen and nystatin. Had no voice whatsoever yesterday, but that gave me more opportunity to work with my new Dynavox Eyemax eyegaze system that came last week, courtesy of the VA. Still alot to learn on it, but I’m so blessed to have it…and so very thankful!

Cindy worked her last day yesterday, and will be coming for good next weekend after Maura finishes her exams up there, before transitioning here. They drove the two and a half hours last night just so Cindy could come and check me out before turning around and driving back 90 minutes later; the girls have to go to their dad’s this weekend. Cindy is now back on the road this morning, coming back for the weekend…THANK YOU LORD!!!

Because I have only limited functional use of one hand, I use Dasher, as shown here, to type without a keyboard, only a mouse. Great for loss of use of one hand, even if there's no fine motor control in your better hand. Also adaptable for eyegaze and head-mouse use. Give it a try! I supplement Dasher with an on-screen keyboard called Skeleton Key, created by a PALS, Dov Wisebrod.
